브라이언 컬버슨은 하나의 음악 장르에 한정되지 않고 Contemporary Jazz, R&B 그리고 Funk 음악을 넘나들며 다양한 음악을 시도하는 멀티 악기연주자, 작곡자이자 앨범 프로듀서입니다. 그의 음악 인생은 유년시절부터 이미 결정된 듯 합니다. 8세에 피아노를 시작하였고 12세에 이미 피아노, 드럼, 트롬본 베이스 기타 연주가 가능했던 이 음악 신동은 다양한 음악장르가 혼재하는 대도시 시카고에서 성장하며 70년대부터 Earth Wind & Fire, Chicago, Tower of Power, Brecker Brothers, David Sanborn 등으로 부터 음악적 영향을 받았습니다.
