레바논 베이루트에서 태어난 타렉 야마니는 현재 뉴욕을 중심으로 활동하는 재즈 피아니스트다. 19살 때 재즈를 독학으로 배운 그의 음악은 미국 흑인들의 재즈와 아랍 음악과의 만남에 중점을 두고 있다. 특히 그의 2집 앨범 [Lisan Al Tarab]과 최신작 [Peninsular]는 아라비아 반도의 리듬과 재즈와의 만남이 어떻게 가능한지 보여주는 작품이라고 할 수 있다.
